Rough Legged Hawk on Approach For Landing

Rough Legged Hawk on Approach For Landing, British Columbia, Canada

Southern British Columbia is home to a great variety of birds-of-prey,. Some are year round residents, like the ever present bald eagles, or harriers and red tailed hawks. Others, like some varieties of owls, overwinter here during the winter months to feed on the superior food supply. Rough legged hawks do this as well, traveling down from their regular home in the Arctic. Photographed in December 2020.
